World’s First Flashlight with Luminus’ Revolutionary Round LED

Round  LED  delivers  exceptional  beam  quality  and  intensity Las  Vegas,  Nevada,  LightFair,  May  9,  2012  –  Luminus  Devices,  Inc.,  announced  today  that  its  newly  developed  Round  Big  Chip  LED™  has  been  designed  into  a  state-­‐
of-­‐the-­‐art  tactical  flashlight  by  Ruijia  Portable  Lighting  Products  Company  of  Dongguan  City,  China.

High  performance  tactical  flashlights  require  exceptional  center  beam  candle  power  combined  with  a  narrow  beam  to  project  a  long  distance  with  high  intensity. Faceted  reflectors  are  typically  used  to  homogenize  the  output  and  transform  a  square  LED  into  a  circular  beam.    However,  faceted  reflectors  reduce  the  center beam  intensity  and  diffuse  the  beam  into  a  larger  angle.    Luminus’  new  round  LED  enables  tactical  flashlight  manufacturers  to  optimize  the  aesthetic  quality  of  the  beam  without  compromising  intensity.
